Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim faces mounting pressure after a poor start to the season. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe personally visited Carrington for talks with the Portuguese boss, fueling speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim Under Pressure at Manchester United

The Red Devils have collected just four points from four Premier League games, with a last-minute win over Burnley and a draw against Fulham their only positive results. Defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City, combined with a shock League Cup exit to Grimsby Town, have left Amorim’s position under scrutiny.

Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last November, has yet to prove himself in English football. Last season, he won only seven of 27 league matches, and this campaign has shown little improvement.

Fabrizio Romano Confirms Ratcliffe’s Direct Talks

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe flew into Manchester United’s training base to hold several meetings with club staff, including a face-to-face conversation with Amorim.

Romano emphasized that these discussions were pre-planned before the Manchester derby defeat, but confirmed that Ratcliffe wants to understand the team’s struggles after heavy investment in the summer transfer window.

Despite speculation, Romano made it clear that United have not contacted or advanced talks with any alternative managers. For now, the club continues to back Amorim — but results must improve quickly.

Manchester United’s Next Steps

Amorim’s future at Old Trafford will depend heavily on upcoming fixtures. With tough Premier League clashes ahead, including games against top-six rivals, the Portuguese coach must deliver results to retain the board’s trust.

Failure to turn around the team’s form could see Manchester United forced into another managerial change sooner than expected.
