Borussia Mönchengladbach Collapse in 10-Goal Thriller Against Eintracht Frankfurt

Borussia Mönchengladbach endured a disastrous night in the Bundesliga as they suffered a 6-4 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in a chaotic clash that saw the visitors lead 6-0 before halftime. Interim coach Eugen Polanski revealed details of his fiery half-time team talk, but the late response did little to mask Gladbach’s ongoing struggles.

Eintracht Frankfurt Punish Gladbach With First-Half Blitz

The Bundesliga showdown quickly turned into a nightmare for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Eintracht Frankfurt stormed into a 6-0 lead, with Robin Koch scoring the sixth just before the 47th minute. The hosts looked completely out of shape, failing to show fight or organization in front of their home crowd.

Gladbach’s winless run in the Bundesliga has now stretched to 12 matches, leaving them at the bottom of the table after Heidenheim’s earlier win over Augsburg.

Polanski’s Half-Time Team Talk Revealed

Speaking after the game, interim coach Eugen Polanski admitted his side’s first-half performance was “totally unacceptable.” He explained that he used the break to appeal to the players’ sense of pride and responsibility.

“It got loud at half-time,” Polanski said. “I reminded them it wasn’t individuals trailing 0-5, it was all of us. We had to react together.”

Despite rallying with four second-half goals to soften the scoreline, Polanski admitted the response “doesn’t help us as a team” and insisted the first-half display had “no place in the Bundesliga.”

Players and Officials Accept Responsibility

Sporting director Roland Virkus also criticized the team, calling the performance “desolate” and admitting that “everything you need in football was missing.” Midfielder Rocco Reitz, who captained the side, echoed the frustration: “From the first minute, it was disastrous. It wasn’t about the coach – every player has to face their mistakes.”

Gladbach’s Struggles Continue in Bundesliga

While Polanski took some pride in the fact his players didn’t completely collapse after going 6-0 down, the defeat leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach in crisis. With no wins in 12 Bundesliga games, their fight for survival looks increasingly desperate.

The Fohlenelf will need a dramatic turnaround in upcoming fixtures if they are to climb off the bottom of the league table and restore belief among their fans.
