Harry Kane Release Clause Dismissed as Bayern Legend Insists Striker Must Stay

Harry Kane’s release clause has fueled Premier League return rumors, but Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus believes the England captain is “in very good hands” in Germany. With 13 goals in just seven games this season, Kane is proving why Bayern cannot afford to lose him.

Harry Kane Release Clause Rumors Resurface

Speculation over Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich contract has grown, with reports suggesting a €65 million (£55m/$71m) release clause could allow him to leave in 2026. This has reignited talk of a possible Premier League comeback, with Tottenham once again linked to their former star.

Despite the transfer gossip, Kane continues to shine in the Bundesliga. His recent hat-trick against Hoffenheim lifted him to 13 goals in seven appearances this season, keeping him firmly on track for a third straight Golden Boot in Germany.

Matthäus: Kane Feels at Home in Munich

Speaking to RTL/ntv and Sport.de, Bayern Munich icon Lothar Matthäus downplayed fears about Kane’s exit clause. The former midfielder insisted the clause is “not mandatory” and stressed that the striker feels settled in Bavaria.

“Harry Kane is in very good hands at Bayern,” Matthäus explained. “He feels comfortable here, he’s winning titles, and he’s on the verge of becoming top scorer for the third year in a row. That’s something he didn’t experience at Tottenham.”

Why Bayern Munich Cannot Afford to Lose Kane

Since arriving in 2023, Kane has transformed Bayern’s attack. His goalscoring consistency, combined with his ability to provide assists and link play, makes him irreplaceable in Vincent Kompany’s system.

Matthäus also praised Kane’s all-around qualities: “He is not only the best striker in the world for his goals, but also for his assists and defensive work. He contributes everywhere on the pitch.”

With Bayern building their project around Kane, losing him to the Premier League would be a massive blow.

Kane’s Future at Bayern Munich

While English clubs may continue to monitor Kane’s situation, his immediate focus remains on Bayern Munich’s ambitions in the Bundesliga and Champions League. If Matthäus’ words are any indication, the club is determined to ensure their star striker remains in Bavaria well beyond 2026.
