Alex Marquez will compete on a factory-spec GP26 bike for the 2026 MotoGP season with Gresini Racing, matching the machinery used by Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. After an impressive 2025 season with podiums and victories, the #73 rider is set to take his performance to the next level with the top-spec Ducati.
Marquez Secures Factory Bike for 2026
Gresini Racing confirmed that Alex Marquez will upgrade from last year’s GP24 to a factory GP26, placing him among the elite riders with factory Ducati machinery. This move increases the number of factory-spec Ducatis on the grid from three to four, alongside the Ducati Lenovo Team pairing of Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, and Fabio Di Giannantonio’s GP25.
“It’s an honour to be racing on a factory bike with Team Gresini,” Alex Marquez said. “This is a reward for everyone — myself and the whole team. We’re ready to push even further in 2026.”
A Stellar 2025 Season
Marquez’s 2025 campaign has been remarkable, with 16 Grands Prix completed, 21 podiums across Tissot Sprint and main events, and two victories. Riding the GP24, the Spaniard demonstrated consistency and speed, earning him the chance to ride the same GP26 as the Ducati factory stars next season.
“Alex Marquez’s season has been impressive,” said Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna. “We’re increasing our support to help him and the team grow further. With new updates, we expect continued improvements in 2026.”
Team Reaction and Future Expectations
Gresini Racing owner Nadia Padovani praised Marquez’s achievement:
“This is a milestone for our team. Alex will ride a factory bike next year, and we are ready to take another step toward excellence.”
The upgrade reflects both Marquez’s talent and Gresini Racing’s ongoing growth in MotoGP, with ambitions to challenge the top Ducati riders in the coming season.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With the GP26 under his control, Alex Marquez will aim to convert podiums into wins and challenge for higher standings in the 2026 MotoGP season. Fans can expect a stronger, faster, and more competitive #73 as he battles alongside the factory Ducati riders.
